William Ralph Smith

Mr. William Ralph Smith age 71 of Fayette passed away Wednesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Lance Griffin, Bro. Wayne Glass and Bro. C.W. Box officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 at Norwood Chapel. Mr. Smith was born April 9, 1939 in Lamar Co. to the late Elbert Otto and Bessie Myrtle Smith. He was a resident of Fayette Co. most of his life and formerly worked for Continental Conveyor and Riley Brothers Construction. He was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Myron Lynn Smith Rhodes, one grandson, Shannon Lee Watkins, one great-granddaughter, Sarabeth Nicole Simmons; three sisters, Wynell Walton, Barbara Griffin and Helen Taylor; one brother, Joe Ray Smith. Survivors include his wife Betty Lou Wright Smith of Fayette; one daughter, Melanie Smith (Wayne) Watkins of Winfield; two sons, William Rodney (Pam) Smith and Barry Jonathan (Cindy) Smith of Fayette; two sisters Myrtle Louise Sprinkle of Beaverton and Sarah Frances (Dewayne) Hubbert of Fayette; fifteen grandchildren, Erica, Christy, Misty, Derek, Samantha, Travis, Megan, Bradley, Nick, Brianna, Colton, Denise, Monica, Matt and Kendra; ten great-grandchildren Asia, Zadie, Ryley, Zach, Xavier, Drew, Emma, Landon, Triston and Hunter.
