Ronald Bredehoft age 76 of Owns Cross Roads, AL died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL. Born in San Francisco, CA he is the Son of the late Cornelius and Irvina Gill Bredehoft. He had lived in Fairlington, VA for over 30 years and in Alabama since 2007. He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Air Force, and had worked for the US Treasury Department as a computer programmer and systems analysis. Ron and Harriet were part of a team that developed software programs to issue the first Veterans Administration benefits and Social Security check by computer. In October 1973 at the Annual Awards Ceremony, he was awarded the Department of Treasury Secretary’s Certificate, signed by George P Shultz and by the Assistant Secretary of Treasury William Simon. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Guin. Survived by his Wife, Harriet Hollis Bredehoft of Owens Cross Road, AL, A Son, John Bredehoft (Susan) of Ontario, CA, A Granddaughter, Laura Lee Bredehoft, 3 Sisters, Cornelia Jane Dunnagan of El Dorado Hill, CA, Mildred Jean Herbert of Cameron Park, CO and Ruth payne of Aurora, CO. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Bredehoft. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Guin First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 515 Guin, AL 35563 or the New Hope United Methodist Church 5343 Main Drive New Hope, AL 35760 Services held Monday, March 14, 2011 2:00 pm from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Kennedy Cemetery.
