Mr. Shelby C. Mitchell

Mr. Shelby C. Mitchell age 83 of Bankston passed away Sunday April 3, 2011 at the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7th at the Samantha Holiness Church with Bro. Denny Renfroe officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Piney Woods Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 6th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mr. Mitchell was born August 5, 1927 to the late Wesley James Mitchell and Cloteen Renauo Mitchell. He was a resident of Bankston for 40 years and was a member of the Samantha Holiness Church. Mr. Mitchell served his country during World War II and was retired from the U.S. Navy. He formerly worked as an Electrician for the State of Alabama. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Survivors include his wife, Frankie Dunn Mitchell of Bankston; one daughter, Patti Friend of Bankston; one son, Sam (Gail) Mitchell of Costa Mesa, CA; and eleven grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Beau Corbbrey, Muhsin Corbbrey, Billy Dunn, Kurt Alfredson and Lee Dunn. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Dunn, Sam Morris, Alex Corbbrey and Clyde Pendley.
