Louise Rowland

Mrs. Louise Rowland, age 90 of Fayette, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Fayette Long Term Care Center. Funeral services will be Friday morning, April 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Oneal Watkins officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Methodist Cemetery. The visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mrs. Rowland was born March 3, 1921 in Fayette County the daughter of the late Belton Oscar Watkins and Luella Morrison Watkins. Her parents were the owners of the Watkins Grocery in the Mt. Vernon Community for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Rowland became co-owners of the store on Jan. 1, 1958 and continued operating the store as Rowland Grocery, until the death of her husband in 1993. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her husband, Thurston Rowland and is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mackey Watkins, Mickey Watkins, Joe Lane Waldrop, Tim Loftis, Charlie Dale Waldrop, Kevin Watkins and Shane Sanford. Norwood Chapel of Fayette directing.
