Nebiyou Menker “JIM” Girma, age 46, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Jim was born on November 14, 1964, in Ethiopia to Mulumbet Yelma of Ethiopia and the late Menker Girma. He was the former owner of N & M Convenience Stores and also ABC Foods in Cornelia, Georgia. He was of the Coptic Orthodox faith. Jim loved soccer, was an avid political junkie, and was a very hard worker. He was a loving husband, doting father, loving brother and son, and was a friend to everyone. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his loving wife of 7 years, Tammy Cavender Girma, Gainesville, GA; sons, Joshuah Samuel Girma and Lucas Zackery Ryan Girma, both of Gainesville, GA; sisters, Etse Girma, Springfield, Virginia, Hilina Girma, Alexandria, Virginia, and Teyech Desalgn, Ethiopia; brothers, Melaku Menker, Fairfax, Virginia, Ababu Girma, Toronto, Canada, and Tessma Desalgn, Alexandria, Virginia; aunt, Neged Girma, Silver Springs, Maryland; and uncle, Moges Girma, Washington, D.C. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
