Lloyd Barnes age 85 of Clanton formerly of Guin, AL passed on to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at his residence. Born in Woodruff County, Arkansas he is the Son of the late Houston and Julie Gosa Barnes. After being orphaned and raised by numerous relatives, he joined the Army to fight the Nazis in World War II at the age of 17. A decorated veteran, he lost his right leg fighting in France along the German border, with the Seventh Army, Third Infantry Division serving with Audie Murphy. A life long resident of Guin and most recently Clanton, AL for several years. He had served as Mayor of Guin and was retired from Health-Tex Inc. of Guin after serving over 30 years as Office Manager. He was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church were he served as Deacon for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his Wife, Lila Mae McNece Barnes of Clanton, AL, 3 Sons, David (Wanda) Barnes of Sulligent, AL, Phillip (Teresa) Barnes of Guin, AL and Rodney Barnes of Clanton, AL, 2 Daughters, Jenny (Art) Ingman of Brentwood, TN, and Wanda (Prentis) Martin of Clanton, 2 Granddaughters, Victoria nad Stephanie Ingman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister Janie Dunavin and a Grandson Tim Barnes. Services held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Chaplin Charlie Nicholson officiating.
