Fred Rushing age 80 of Sulligent, AL died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Lamar County, The Son of the late Walter M. and Sarah Jane Carden Rushing and a Step Mother Dora Hollis Rushing. A member of the Union Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and a resident of the Taylor Springs Community. He served in the Marines in the Korean War. He was owner and operator of the Amoco Service Station in Sulligent for many years and he had retired from the Hyster Plant in 1994. Survived by his Wife: Grace Myers Rushing of Sulligent, AL, Two Daughters: Teresa (Johnny) Hulsey of Sulligent, AL and Deborah (Bill) Mason of Cottondale, AL, Three Sons: Jeffrey (Jodie) Rushing of Crystal River, FL and Jeremy and Jamie Rushing both of Sulligent, AL, Six Grandchildren: Brandon (Emily) Crawford, Tammy Wood, Amber (Walt) Larisey, Aaron (Ashley) Hulsey, Danielle Rushing and Andrew Mason, Six Great Grandchildren: Hunter Wood, Kaylee Crawford, Dexter Crawford, Luke Larisey, John Cole Larisey and Lily Claire Hulsey. Brothers and Sisters in law: Juanita (Larry) Butler, Wayne Myers, Richard Myers, Cynthia Myers and Larry (Sharon) Myers. Preceded in death by A Sister, Gloria Rushing Brown and a Brother, Jimmy Lynn Rushing. Two Brother in law: Robert (Candy) Myers and Jerry (Mule) Myers. Pallbearers were: Heath Butler, Haig Butler, Gregg Butler, David Dean, Dustin Myers, Myers Dean, David Myers, Robert Myers, Will Myers, Lee Myers and Kevin Myers. Services held Friday, August 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Gilmer Addition of the Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Bill Duncan and Bro.
