Mr. Vernon Butch Hudson, age 60 of Winfield, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Fayette Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel with Bro. Mark McGuire and Barry Corkren officiating. Burial will follow in the White’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hudson was born March 18, 1951 in Berry, AL the son of the late Vernon and Hazel Files Hudson. Butch started his law enforcement career in 1972. He worked five years as a Police Officer with the City of Fayette and twenty eight years as Deputy Sheriff with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. After retirement he worked four years at Continental Conveyor in Winfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Buck McLaughlin. Survivors include his wife Rhonda Lynn Hudson of Winfield; one son, Randy Hudson of Berry; granddaughter, Rachel Hudson; two sisters, Estelle Wright of Berry and Louise Nelson of Tuscaloosa; Mother-in-law Bessie Lynn Farris; sister-in-law, Melissa Greene and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Brooks Greene, Blake Greene, Randy Wright, Franky Porter, Tommy C. Hubbert, Hank Hindman, Bryan Everette and Curtis Roby. Honorary pallbearers are the Alabama State FOP, Lamar Harris, Moose McCaleb, Alex Chaffin, the Hubbertville coaches and athletes. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
