J.D. Knight age 88 of Greenwood Springs, MS died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Oak Tree Plantation Assisted Living in Amory, MS. Born in Lamar County to the late Thomas B.M. and Daisy Gilliland Knight and the Husband of the late Doris Nell Spruiell Knight. J.D. attended the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Detroit, AL and was Co- owner of the Knight Brothers Saw Mill. He loved farming especially raising cattle and driving his tractor. J. D. and Wife Doris Nell were married for sixty two years and lived in the Splunge community all their lives. Survived by Two Daughters: Kathy (John) Priddy and Carol (Ray) Thompson both of Sulligent, AL, one Son: Dwight (Lori) Knight of Detroit, AL, Six Grandchildren: Melanie Thompson, Eric Priddy, Toby Thompson, Pamela Priddy Lovelady (Jamie), Dusty Thompson Webster (Brandon) and Andrea Knight, Five Great Grandchildren: Jaden Priddy, Garrett Lovelady, Slade, Colton and Abby Webster, One Sister: Kathleen Otts of Detroit, AL, Two Brothers: James Knight of Sulligent, AL and E.D.(Shorty) Knight of Detroit, AL. Preceded in Death by Four Brothers: Flois Knight, Elmer Knight, Pete Knight and Raymond Knight. Services Held Friday, October 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Tim Markham and Bro. Tommy Spruiell Officiating.
