Sylvia Simmons McCrary

Sylvia Simmons McCrary age 91 of Guin, AL died Thursday, November 3, 2011 in the UAB Hospital in Bessemer, AL. Born in Guin, AL she is the daughter of the late William Abb and Bessie Liza Markham Simmons. She had lived in Birmingham for 40 years before moving back to Guin in 1981. She received her BS Degree from Birmingham Southern and had taught school for 33 years. She was a member of the Winfield Eastern Star and the Guin First Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 Daughters, Carol K. McCrary of Pleasant Grove, AL and Teresa Ruth (Jeff) Cosper of Hueytown, AL A Son, Ronald David (Tangie) McCrary of McCalla, AL, 6 Grandchildren, Matthew Cosper, Jason, John (April) and Jesse McCrary, Beverly Wilkinson and Marie (Brad) Christian, 2 Step Grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda Holcomb, and 6 Great Grandsons, Skylar, Gage, Dean and Duey McCrary, Alex Whitlock and Grady Christian, A Sister, Mary Ruth Atkinson of Winfield, AL and A Brother, James Simmons of Guin, AL. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter and 2 Daughters Ann and Faye, A Sister, Ellen Carter and 5 brothers, Abb Jr., Max, Loyd , Richard and Hilton Simmons. Services held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:30 am from the Guin First Baptist Church with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bro. Don Graham officiating.
