Mr. James Golden Howell, age 96 of Fayette, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Lucas and Rev. Philips Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepherd Baptist cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mr. Howell was born July 20, 1915 in Hackleburg, AL the son of the late James Wright Howell and Lou Weatherly Howell. He was a member of the Mayfield Church of Christ. Mr. Howell formerly worked for the Fayette Cotton Mill and was retired from Arvin Industries where he had worked for eighteen years. He enjoyed camping, gardening, growing tomatoes and watching Alabama football. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Muse Howell of Fayette; one daughter, Kay Frances (Copeland) Nabors of Fayette; one grandchild and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Ronnie Nabors, Brenden Nabors, Ray Davis, DeWitt Black, Clyde Hall and Fred Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of Fayette Medical Center, Hospice of West Alabama and Edward Gilpin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fayette Medical Center Hospice.
