Gorman N. Whitehead

Mr. Gorman Whitehead, age 92 of Fayette, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at Fayette Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Berea Church of Christ with Bro. Frank Farris and Bro. Jimmy McNeese officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. Mr. Whitehead was born March 17, 1919 in Fayette County, the son of the late Arch and Jane Hollingsworth Whitehead. He was a farmer and owned and operated Whitehead Grocery for thirty years. He was a member of the Berea Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lee Whitehead on May 28, 2011 and one sister, Elsie Hawkins. Survivors include his son, Gorman Nick (Lynn) Whitehead, Jr.; two grandchildren, Lance (Heather) Whitehead and Jana (Todd) Van Paris; three great grandchildren, Alex Whitehead, Laci Whitehead and Jackson Van Paris; one brother, Orman Whitehead; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Herbert Hollingsworth, John Wakefield, Ricky Wakefield, Doug Whitehead, Steve Dodd, and Steve McCaleb. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Jones, Don Bussey, Dr. J.E. Breitling, Billy Fowler and William Oswalt. Norwood Chapel of Fayette directing.
