Mrs. Dorothy Bowles Baker, age 82 of Fayette, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Winfield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Scotty Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove cemetery. The visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mrs. Baker was born July 31, 1929 in Walker Co. the daughter of the late Fred and Maudie Moore Bowles. She was formerly employed as a Nurse’s Aide in Indiana, substitute teacher at Hubbertville School and Poll Worker at Ford’s Mountain Beat. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Baker in 2000; one son, Freddie Ray Baker; two daughters, Jennifer Deborah Baker and Infant Joyce Delane Baker; one brother, Theodore Bowles. Survivors include four daughters, Suzanne Shelby of Dyersburg, TN; Melody (Jack) O’Rear of Jasper, AL, Sheila (Jim) Cole of Millport, AL and Lisa (Frankie) Corkren of Winfield, AL; five grandchildren, Danny Lynn Shelby, Jr., Heather Michelle Beasley (Chris), Carl Ray O’Rear, Kevin Michael Benton, and Sean Wallace Benton; four great grandchildren, Alexandra Shelby, Dewey Shelby, Destiny Shelby and Layka Beasley; one brother, Delmer Bowles of Fayette; two sisters, Eva Stough of Winfield and Kay Roby of Eldridge. Pallbearers are Derann Roby, Dennis Bowles, Mark Brasher, Robert Hill, Danny McDonald, Randall Moore and Eric Bowles.
