Mrs. Etta D. Grimsley, age 96 of Fayette, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 1st at 3:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Scott Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayette City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Grimsley was born November 26, 1915 in Fayette, the daughter of the late William Arlington Dodson and Velma Smith Dodson. She was a life- long resident of Fayette. She was an active member of the Fayette First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Corene Hollis Circle of the WMU, and an active member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. In her early years she was associated with the First National Bank of Fayette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Sumrall and Bessie Gray and two brothers, Dr. William A. Dodson, Jr. and Charles H. Dodson, Sr. Survivors include her husband, Alva M. Grimsley, Jr. of Fayette; two sons, Alva M. Grimsley, III (Risa) of Fayette and Charles S. Grimsley of Northport; Grandchildren, Katy Wallace (Derek), Abby Hernandez (Sal), Will Grimsley and Molly Grimsley (fiancé Adam Beaugh), Great Grandchildren, Preston Ray Wallace and Adylise Grace Wallace; nieces and nephews, Judge Charles H. Dodson, Jr., Jimmy Dodson, Libba D. Lyon, Felicia Anderson and Joanna Hiles. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dodson, Charles Dodson, Derek Wallace, Will Grimsley, Ralph Watson, Waldon Tucker, William (Bill) Dodson and Brannen Perry. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Fayette First Baptist Church Library Memorial Fund or Hospice of West Alabama.
