Olene Whitley

Mrs. Olene Whitley, age 89 of Fayette, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sand Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Regan Rye, Rev. C.W. Box and Chaplain Lenard Rigsby officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mrs. Whitley was born May 7, 1923 in Fayette, the daughter of the late James Phelps McClure and Ola Ozema Owens McClure. She was a resident of Fayette most of her life and formerly lived in the Mt. Vernon community. She formerly worked at several garment plants in Fayette and Winfield. Mrs. Whitley was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband of seventy-two years, Cleburn Whitley of Fayette; her son, Larry (Sandra) Whitley of Fayette; one sister, Ruth Vickery of Jasper; three grandchildren, Kelley (Russell) DuBose, Van (Tina) Whitley and Tom (Heather) Whitley; four great grandchildren, Jackson DuBose, Harrison Whitley, Elijah Whitley and Tucker Whitley. Pallbearers are Tom Whitley, Van Whitley, Jackson DuBose, Russell DuBose, Jimmy Bozeman and Wayne Nelson.
