Dorsie Mae Lowery

Mrs. Dorsie Mae Lowery age 85 of Fayette passed away Friday October 12, 2012 at the Generations of Vernon. Funeral Service for Mrs. Lowery will be Sunday at 2:00pm at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Phillip Strickland officiatiing. Burial will follow at the Fayette Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The visitation will be Sunday from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Norwood Chapel. Mrs. Lowery was born May 20, 1927 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Ben and Corona Fowler Lowery. She was raised in the Stough and Fowler Crossroads communities, later residing in the Lawrence Mill area near Rehobeth Church. After moving to Fayette, she provided childcare services to many children in her home. Mrs. Lowery was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Fayette First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Macon Lowery; two brothers Leroy Lowery and Herbert Lowery; three sisters, Maudie Gordon, Ila Ray and Freida Franks Jones. Survivors include two sons, Sam (Shirley) Lowery of Fayette and Eddie Lowery of Chattanooga, TN; four granddaughters, one grandson, twelve great grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren.
