William "Wild Bill" Nelson

Mr. William “Wild Bill” Nelson, age 85 of Fayette, died Monday November 5, 2012 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Northport. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel with Dr. John Stamps officiating. Burial will follow in the Higdon cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mr. Nelson was born April 6, 1927 in Tuscaloosa County, the son of the late Issac and Elizabeth Woodham Nelson. He was formerly employed as mechanic with Warrior Tractor for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Mae Nelson; one son, James William Nelson; two sisters, Gladys Simmons and Minnie Jane Hardy. Survivors include two daughters, Annette Roach and Carolyn (Tim) Janes; six grandchildren, Lisa Nelson Pate, Ricky Nelson, Scotty Snow, Tracy Free, S. Wade Sims and Christopher A. Sims; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Joyce Dalton; two brothers, James Lee Nelson and Lloyd Ray Nelson.
