Mrs. Earline Palmer South Ray, age 83 of Fayette, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in Northport. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia “Gumbud” Baptist Church. Mrs. Ray’s Grandson Rev. Scott McCullar and Dr. Dale Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Mrs. Ray was born July 7, 1929 in Hubbertville, the daughter of the late Artis and Pearlie McDonald Palmer. She was a member of the Macedonia “Gumbud” Baptist Church. Mrs. Ray was retired from the Fayette Cotton Mill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William “Web” South; her husband, Bill Ray; daughter, Debbie McCullar Redker; brother, Rayburn Palmer and sisters, Emogene Fowler, Bea Wallace and Polly Palmer and one son-in-law, George Mroczynski. Survivors include one son, Dennis (Glenna) South of Northport; two daughters, Diane Mroczynski of Northport and Donna (Keith) Lake of Duncanville; one step-daughter, Kerry (Wayne) Britain of Northport; two step-sons, Kip (Jackie) Ray of Bessemer and Lance (Ginger) Ray of Northport; one sister, Lou Lortz of Fayette; eleven grandchildren, Jephrey South, Ann Marie South-Dollar, Scott McCullar, Justin Redker, Samantha, Georgina, and Karla Mroczynski, Shelley Sanders, Morgan, Laura, and Caleb Ray; six great grandchildren, Norman and Ramey Dollar, Mackenzie, Zak and Nik McCullar and Marissa Sanders. Active pallbearers are Norman Dollar, Ramey Dollar, Jephrey South, Scott Jordan, Justin Redker and Joe Redker. Honorary pallbearers are Howard and Martha Lovell, James and Kay O’Daniel, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, Especially Christie Owens, Stephanie Whitbeck, Jill Duke and members of Macedonia Baptist Church.
