Joe Childers

Mr. Joseph Cecil Childers, age 65 of Fayette, died Wednesday December 26, 2012 at Glen Haven Nursing Home in Northport after a long illness. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Doss officiating. Joe was born September 16, 1946 in Ocala, FL, the son of the late Herbert and Mabel Clemens Childers. He grew up in Mobile, AL and graduated from Murphy High School. He has been a resident of Fayette since 1987. Joe was a fervent supporter of the Fayette Tigers football team and was a recognizable figure on the sidelines during the games. He also enjoyed other athletic activities of Fayette High School. He was a long time employee of Jack’s until his retirement due to his health. Survivors include his sister, Beverley C. Raley of Fayette; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nephews, grand nieces; aunt and cousins. The family wishes to thank Alacare Hospice, with special thanks to Kay Lary, RN, for assisting the family during their time of need.
