Funeral services for Mrs. Frankie Dunn Mitchell will be held Tuesday, January 15th at 1:00 P.M. at the Samantha Holiness Church with Bro. Denny Renfroe officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Woods cemetery. The visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 at Norwood Chapel. Mrs. Mitchell passed from this life January 11, 2013 after a long illness. She was married to the love of her life for nearly sixty-five years. Out of this union they had three children, two sons and one daughter. She was a Navy wife, serving as both father and mother due to her husband serving twenty years in the Navy. She worked in the food industry all her adult life, as a waitress, cook and then owner of her own restaurant. She ran the West End Café in Berry from the mid 80’s for twenty-two years. She had to retire due to her husband’s as well as her own failing health. She would still be working if she was able. She served up many good meals to all types of people, and plenty of it too, whether you could afford to pay or not. Her place was a meeting place for all people, where friends gathered and you became part of her family. She took many a young person, and older, it made no difference, under her wing and would show them the way to run a café. She would also give motherly advice on how to help you out with life itself. She was a good listerer to anyone who needed help. If you left her café hungry, it was just because you wanted to. She not only had the best hamburger and fries in town, but absolutely had the best breakfast anywhere. She made many friends down through life who remained friends for life. She will never be forgotten for her loving kindness and helping anyone out of a crisis. May her kindness continue on. Survivors include one daughter, Patti Mitchell Friend of Bankston; one son, Sam (Gail) Mitchell of Costa Mesa, CA; one brother, Billy Ray (Shirley) Dunn; five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
