Russell Neal Gann, age 26 of Fayette, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Fayette. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Richard Parker, officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove cemetery. The visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Russell was born April 22, 1986 in Fayette. He was a resident of Fayette most of his life. He was a 2004 graduate of Fayette Co. High School. He earned an Associate degree at Bevill State College and attended one year at the University of Alabama. He transferred to Birmingham Southern to play football and graduated from Birmingham Southern with a degree in Business Management. Russell was presently enrolled in the RN program at Bevill State College. He was a member of the Rehobeth Baptist Church. Russell was preceded in death by his father, Randal Gann and his great grandparents. Survivors include his mother, Vicki (Mitch) Kimbrell of Birmingham; one brother, Brandon Kimbrell and one sister, Brooke Kimbrell of Birmingham; his maternal grandparents, Sammy and Linda Grimes of Fayette; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Linda Gann of Fayette; step-mother, Tara Gann of Fayette; step-grandparents, Bob and Sonja Kimbrell of Northport; aunts, Trisha (Phillip) Strickland and Rhonda (Glen) Deal, Kelly (Dale) Brawner and Jeri (Jeff) Ayres; uncle Rodney (Shannon) Gann and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him. Pallbearers are Miles Crowley, Brandon Foster, Skylar Corkren, Justin Poole, Jake Deal, Cole Deal, Nick Gann and Clay Maddox , Justin Lahay, and Thomas “Rabbit Head” Stallworth.
