Mr. Harold Simmons, age 84 of Berry, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Fayette Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethabara Baptist church with Rev. Ron Collett officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 at the church. Mr. Simmons was born July 6, 1928 in Fayette, the son of the late Andrew Jackson Simmons and Lula Gray Simmons. He was a resident of Berry most of his life and formerly lived in Chicago. He attended the Berry United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Simmons, one son, Terry Simmons, one daughter, Alice Nadine Simmons; one sister, Mary Daniels and one brother, Glen Simmons. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Farrington (Myles) of Berry; Dwynell Simmons of Berry; and Judy Calvert of Northside; one sister, Janis Simmons of Cullman; two brothers, Dwight Simmons (Patricia) of Pinson; and Vaughn Simmons of Fayette; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a number of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Steven Tyree, Devan Tyree, Blake Tyree, Steven Farrington, Adam Darty and Tom Strickland. Norwood Chapel directing.
