Mr. Herbert D. “Dub” Deavours, age 85 of Berry, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at DCH Regional Medical Center. The visitation will be Tuesday evening, April 9th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday,at the Philadelphia Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Deavours was born July 5, 1927 in Fayette County, the son of the late Arthur and Lou Tidwell Deavours. He was a resident of the Philadelphia Community and a former resident of Bessemer for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served his country during World War II. He formerly worked for Rust Engineering for 43 years. Mr. Deavours was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Buster Deavours and his wife Sudie and one sister Carrie Willingham and her husband, Amon. Survivors include his wife Kathryn Ray Deavours of Berry; one daughter, Patsy (David) Compton of Northport; two grandchildren, Kimberly Carter (Ed) and Jeremy Morris (Kristy); four great grandchildren, Haley Bolling (fiancé Janssen Everett), Keri Morris, Josie Morris and Sylver Carter.
