Mr. Bill L. Gray, age 84 of Berry, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Lynell Early and Rev. Ben Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mr. Gray was born October 13, 1929 in Tuscaloosa, the son of the late Raymond Harrison Gray and Lucy Maybell Moore Gray. He was a resident of the New Lexington Community for 84 years and was a member of the Davis Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Gray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a farmer, business owner and a politician. He had an avid love for football. He would help anybody that he could and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Gray, one sister, Virginia Delois Appling and a niece that was raised by his parents, Carol Sue Hall. Mr. Gray is survived by his wife Vivian Pearson Gray of Berry; three daughters, Marcia (Terry) Boswell of Samantha, Denise Owens Maddox of Northport and Brenda (Ricky) O’Neal of Jasper; one son, Billy Wayne (Barbara) Gray of Northport; seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Jarod Owens, Noah O’Neal, Phillip Gray, Shannon Gray, John Maddox and Chance O’Neal. Honorary pallbearers will be David Owens, Brandon Boswell, Mr.& Mrs. Travis Courrington, Mr. & Mrs. Kerry Shirley, Mr. & Mrs. Ronnie Buford, Mrs. Opal Buford and family, Terry Pearson, John Wilson, Friends and Neighbors of the community, Dr. John P. Summerford, Hospice of West Alabama, especially Ashley, Robin, Pat and Lisa and Rev. Ron Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of West Alabama.
