Mrs. Mavis Lee Kizzire, age 91 of Fayette, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Fayette Medical Long Term Care Center. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Scott Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayette Memorial Gardens cemetery. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Mrs. Kizzire was born May 1, 1922 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Solomon Frank Lee and Lilly Belle Cutts Lee. She was a resident of Fayette most of her life. She operated a Day Care for children for twenty years and formerly worked for Sterilon and Habco Textile. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Kizzire was a member of the Fayette First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Kizzire; six brothers and one sister. Survivors include her daughter, Freida Kizzire Burt (Stephen) of Columbus, MS; her son, Roger Kizzire (Sharon) of Fayette; four grandchildren, Shannon Dee (Mike), Cameron Canterbury (Adam), Lezli McKellar (Mark) and Robert Burt (Vanessa); seven great grandchildren, Victoria Dee, Isabella Dee, Lilly Dee, Sarah Canterbury, Kirkland McKellar, Konner McKellar and Keaton McKellar. Pallbearers are Rex Canterbury, Adam Canterbury, Mike Dee, Ralph Watson, Mark McKellar and Sam Lowery. Memorials may be made to Fayette First Baptist Church or Hospice of West Alabama
