Ophelia Patterson

Ophelia Couch Patterson age 96 went to her heavenly home on July 11, 2015 at Fayette Long Term Care, Fayette, AL. Mrs. Patterson was born November 27, 1918 in Winfield, AL to the late Lydia Smith Couch and James Arthur Couch. Mrs. Patterson was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Fayette First Baptist Church for 73 years having taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery for several years. Mrs. Patterson worked at Lanier Clothing until her retirement at 78 years of age. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Theron Patterson, brothers, Sonny Couch, Jack Couch and Robert Couch, sisters Willie Mae Keeton, Mary Nell Franks, Velma Lee Shirley, Sarah Lou Smith and Jane Lindquist and special son-in-law, Ross Burnett. Survivors include daughters Marie Elliott (Joe), Fayette, AL, Betty Burnett, Columbus, MS and son Charles Patterson, Fayette, AL. One sister, Martha Hall, Fayetteville, TN. Special granddaughters, Allison Burkhalter, Amanda Armstrong and Tracey Courtney. Grandsons, Jason Elliott, Allen Patterson, Bill Burnett and 10 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Fayette First Baptist Church, Fayette, AL. July 13, 2015 with Bro. Scott Davis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fayette City Cemetery. Norwood Chapel Funeral Home in Fayette, AL., directing. Pallbearers are: Allen and Kyle Patterson, Trey, Brock and Brady Burkhalter, Bill Burnett and Jeremy Blackburn. Honorary Pallbearers, Gene Deal, Bill and Marilyn Brasher, Ralph Watson, Alva and Risa Grimsley, Dr. Martha Jo Christian, Dr. John Waits, Merrill Nolen, Tom Whitley and Tommy and Donna Norwood.
