Mr. James (Tump) Gray, age 84 of Berry, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at his residence. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethabara Cemetery. Bro. Donald Kimbrell will officiate. Mr. Gray was born January 30, 1931 in Berry, the son of the late Travis F. Gray and Maudie Pendley Gray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served his country during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. Mr. Gray formerly worked for Southern States for 16 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ola Estelle Lollar and Annie Wilma Strickland and one brother, Travis Gray, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Nelvie M. Gray; five daughters, Marilyn Houseworth, Kathy Helms, Carolyn Woods, Kathy Ann Davis and Penny Threadgill; Five sons, Roger Gray, Randy Gray, Jamie Gray, Jackie Gray and Jerry Stephens; one brother, David Henry Gray; 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Gibson Gray, Jeremy Stephens, Jesse Stephens, Gary Houseworth, Brett Davis, Jr., Billy Jo Helms, Conner Gray, Jason Threadgill and Terry Taylor. Norwood Chapel of Fayette directing.
