Vaughn Simmons, age 84, of Fayette, died September 13, 2016, at home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home with Billy Carl Sullivan and Jerry Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens with Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fena Simmons; brothers, Glenn Simmons and Harold Simmons; and sister, Sally Simmons. Survivors include daughter, Donna McLeod; sons, Kenneth Simmons and Michael (Janet) Simmons; step-daughters, Brenda (Ronald) Kolesiak and Kathy Thacker; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brother, Dwight (Patricia) Simmons; and sister Janice Simmons. Vaughn was born in Berry and lived in Fayette since 1986. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer and saw miller. He worked as a pipefitter for Johnson Controls in Oklahoma. He retired from maintenance at Fayette Hospital. He enjoyed singing and playing bluegrass and gospel music on the guitar. Pallbearers will be Jared Simmons, Jason Simmons, Brett Simmons, Jeffrey Kolesiak, Morgan Jernigan, and Luke Crain.
