Philip Rogers Jones, age 74 of Hubbertville passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at home. Services will be Monday, January 9, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at White’s Chapel Church of Christ with Mr. James Wyers officiating and Norwood-Wyatt Chapel directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wyman and Loice Jones; one daughter, Catherine Ann Jones; and two granddaughters, Sarah Joann and Caitlin Maxine Tucker. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Sue Rutledge Jones; daughters, Paula Diane Tucker (Tim) and Shari Joell Everette (Bryan); grandchildren, Allyson Everette Afshar (Bryan), Brooke Everette Hynds (Caleb), Morgan Tucker Galloway (John Nicks), Matthew Thomas Tucker, and Ashley Elizabeth Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Ben, Bryce and Barrett Afshar and Harper Jo and Callie Hynds. Philip graduated from Hubbertville High School in 1960, Alverson Drone Business School in 1961, and College of Advanced Transportation in 1965. He was employed by Stone Container from 1961 – 1967, International Paper from 1967 – 1971, and Continental Conveyor from 1971 – 2009. He was a Hubbertville School Trustee for twelve years and he served on the Fayette County Board of Education for six years. He served as Hubbertville Booster Club president and he was the voice of Hubbertville football and basketball for sixteen years. He was a member of White’s Chapel Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for several years and an elder for five years. Pallbearers will be Benny Everette, Tommy Turner, Bryan Afshar, Caleb Hynds, John Nicks Galloway, Matthew Tucker and Steve Johnson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to White’s Chapel Cemetery Fund.
