Gravis Ballinger

Gravis Leslie Ballinger, age 61 of Fayette, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his residence. Services are Friday, March 24, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, officiating are Reverend James Godsey, Reverend Jimmie Davis, Julie Stough, Judy Elmore and Ronnie Ballinger. Visitation will be Friday March 24, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Ballinger was born July 22, 1955, the son of the late James Hamilton Ballinger and Artie Mae White Ballinger. He had been a life-long resident of Fayette. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his one brother, LaVaughn Ballinger and his sister Jemmie Lou Thompson. He is survived by his wife Janice Marie Canterbury Ballinger of Fayette; daughters, Julie Ann Stough (Ben) of Fayette and Leslie Marie Brady (Patrick) of Tuscaloosa; sister Elaine Jenkins; brothers, Leon Ballinger, Linton Ballinger, Lomax Ballinger, Larry Ballinger, Buddy Ballinger, Edwin Ballinger and Earl Ballinger; and grandchildren, Anslie Stough, Sophie Stough, Rylee Stough and Ciara Brady. Pallbearers are Jimmy Ballinger, Buddy Ballinger, Willian Thompson, Rex Canterbury, David Ballinger, Case O’Dell, Jarrod Litton and Eddie Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Hospice Amedisys, Dr. David Hinton and staff.
