Rev. Robert Eugene Stamps, 59, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 22, 2017. Services will be Friday, May 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayette with Rev. Bart Box officiating and Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Bro. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Avis Stamps; brother, Michael Stamps; and his nephew, Aaron Stamps. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Lisa Sanford Stamps of Winfield; daughter, Leslie Ann Box and her husband Dr. Bart Box of Homewood, AL; son, Dr. Robert Lucas Stamps and his wife Josie Moreman Stamps of Anderson, SC; sister-in-law, Shirley Nelson Stamps; brother, James Steven Stamps and his wife Lora Stamps of Fayette; sisters-in-law, Cindy Bynum and her husband Tommy Bynum and Gina Willcutt and her husband James Daniel Willcutt; and grandchildren, Rachel Caroline Box, Jonathan Aaron Box, Abigail Joanna Box, Isaac James Box, Jackson Lucas Stamps, Claire Bradley Stamps, Henry Washington Stamps and George Sanford Stamps. Bro. Robert was born in Monroe, Louisiana, and was raised in Guin, Alabama. He married Lisa Ann Sanford on November 6, 1976, and they were married over forty years and were blessed with two children, Leslie Ann and Robert Lucas. Robert worked for many years in the family business, Stamps Heating and Cooling, before serving as the pastor of several churches in the area over the last 10 years. He also served his country in the United States Navy Reserve for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Robert graduated with a bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry from Leavell College of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary on May 12th, 2017. Robert loved people, and he especially loved to help those in need. He was loved in life, and he will be greatly missed in death. Above all, Robert knew Jesus as his Savior. Christ was his ultimate hope and assurance both in life and now in death. With the saints he now awaits the return of the Lord and the resurrection of his body. Even so, come Lord Jesus. Pallbearers will be Tommy Bynum, James Daniel Willcutt, Will Corbett, Zack Stamps, Seth Stamps, Thomas Bynum, Ricky Meador, Terry Aldridge and Shaun Bynum.
