Marie Harris Spruiell

Marie Harris Spruiell, age 85, of Sulligent, AL, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, AL. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Hattie Jones Harris and the wife of the late Clemit Spruiell. Marie was a lifelong resident of Sulligent, AL, and a graduate of the Massey Vaughn Business College in Birmingham, AL. Marie and her husband Clemit operated the Sulligent Quick Freeze for twenty-five years. She later worked as secretary of the Sulligent First Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia (Charlie) Spencer of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Clemit (Vicki) Spruiell of Livingston, AL, and Dr. Dale (Kathy) Spruiell of Winfield, AL; six grandchildren, Ashby (Brittney) Spruiell of Rowlett, TX, Pope (Amanda) Spruiell of Tuscaloosa, AL, Anna Kittinger, Lawson Spruiell, Murray Spruiell and Wes (Amanda) Spencer all of Birmingham, AL, and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Adalea Kittinger. She was preceded in death by her husband Clemit Spruiell and her parents Jim and Hattie Jones Harris. Services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. from the Sulligent First Baptist Church with burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Chaffin and Dr. Charles Ballew officiating. Pallbearers will be Ashby Spruiell, Lawson Spruiell, Murray Spruiell, Wes Spencer, Jim Spruiell, and Luke Spruiell. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Sulligent First Baptist Church, Family Life Center, at P.O. Box 217 Sulligent, AL 35586.
