Alfred Ted Powell, age 70, of Ralph, Alabama, died December 4, 2018. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Alfred Ted “Trey” Powell III and Brother David Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.C. and Marjorie Powell. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Powell; sons, Alfred Ted “Teddy” Powell, Junior, Chris Powell (Candice), Zachary Powell (Allison) and Abbie Powell; brothers-in-law, Wayne McCullum (Pam) and Kenny McCullum (Julie); aunts, Pat Arnold and Vera Taylor; uncle, Robert Taylor; and grandchildren, Trey (Carly), Claire, Clay, Kathryn, Kennedy and Camden. Ted was born October 29th, 1948. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1967. He attended the University of Alabama and later joined the United States Navy where he became a Blue Water Sailor and sailed the world twice. After his service, he began working at BF Goodrich and retired after 35 years. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Billy Avery, Stanley Burns, Harold Clayton, Dennis Hoggle, Kenneth McCullum, Daniel McCullum, Taylor McCullum, and Clay Powell. Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of Shiloh, Ralph and Jena communities, Class of ‘67 Tuscaloosa County High School, Dr. Brian Wilhite, Dr. R. Paluri, and nurses and staff at UAB Acton Rd Clinic.
