Betty Jean Miles, 91, took the hand of Jesus and swiftly went to her eternal home on April 16th, 2021. She was born to Clyde Jesse and Hazel Redden Groves on March 2, 1930, in Fayette, Alabama. Mrs. Miles was preceded by her parents, her loving husband of 52 years, Robert F. "Bob" Miles; daughter, Laura Young and grandson, Brian Miles Bennett. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Robbie and Arthur Bennett of Little Rock, Arkansas and son-in-law Ned Young (husband of her late daughter, Laura) of Steen, Mississippi; grandchildren, Wendy Roberts Peterson (Mark) of Covington, Louisiana, Rachel Osborne Bennett (wife of her late grandson, Brian) and Amy Roberts Godwin (Alvin) of Northlake, Texas. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Braeden Peterson of Louisiana, Mary Eloise "Ellie", Mollie and Annie Bennett of Arkansas and Lucy and Emma Gallemore and Finn Godwin of Texas. Betty, known by all as a sweet, caring and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, loved many joys in life: decorating, flower gardening, cooking, reading, music, square dancing, shopping, camping, water skiing and fishing at her cabin. Her early years were spent roller skating, swimming, dancing, horseback and bicycle riding and loving her pets. At the age of 15, she dreamed of becoming a nurse and began training in the many areas of hospital care, working under the nursing staff and doctors McNease, Hodo, and Rutland, even assisting them at the operating table. She continued at McNease Clinic for 11 years before working in manufacturing and at Walmart for many years while also caring for her paralyzed mother, her beloved aunt and uncle, her husband with cancer and Alzheimer's and finally her daughter with cancer. The next 20 years she became more passionate and determined to fit in as much extracurricular activity as possible. She enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her church, Harkins Lake and childhood friends. She loved life. At 85, it was time to move in with her daughter because it was her turn to receive loving care. Seven months prior to her death, she moved into a memory care center and found comfort and compassion until her last breath. We would like to thank the loving family of staffers and nurses of Hospice Home Care Little Rock and the Memory Care of Little Rock at Good Sheppard for their comfort, compassion and love they showered upon our loved one. We are forever grateful and blessed. Betty Jean Miles was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fayette, Alabama for many years. Services will be held at the Fayette United Methodist Church on April 22nd. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior to the service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Fayette Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Bo Lloyd and Ben James officiating. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel of Fayette, Alabama is in charge of arrangements.
