Billy Joe Simmons

Billy Joe Simmons, age 84 of Berry, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019. Services will be Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel with Sis. Amy Lowery and Bro. Wayne Boman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Gibson Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Selma and Ruby Simmons; brother, Earl Simmons; and grandson, Christopher M. Simmons. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virgie Simmons of Berry; daughters, Sandra Simmons of Berry, Sarah Anderson (Joe) of Jasper, and Donna Simmons (Lee) of Northport; sons, Mike Simmons (Cindy) of Northport and Don Simmons (Jackie) of Bankston; sister, Eunice Poe of Jasper; brother, Jack Simmons of Berry; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Allan Goodwin, Tony Simmons, Jason Simmons, Brad Gomes, Ethan Simmons, and Dustin Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pendley’s Chapel Church of God in Berry, AL.
