Charles Arthur Patterson

Charles Arthur Patterson, age 84, of Fayette, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at DCH Regional hospital. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a life well-lived. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following. Dr. Scott Davis will be officiating the service. Both services will be held at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home.

Born April 28, 1940, Charles was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who found joy in the simple things —spending time with family, enjoying nature and pursuing his passion for fishing. He was known for his sociable nature and never met a stranger. 

Charles proudly served his country in the National Guard for 30 years, earning the respect and admiration of those around him. After his service, he retired from West Alabama Sand and Gravel, where he worked diligently for many years. 

He was deeply proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love for them knew no bounds, and his legacy will live on in their hearts. Charles is survived by his children, Allen Patterson (Tina) of Fayette Al. and Allison Burkhalter (Jim) of Fayette Al.; his grandchildren, Kyle Patterson (Trinity) of Northport Al, Allie Madison (Clay) of Northport Al, Trey Burkhalter (Sara) of Northport Al, Brock Burkhalter (Anna) of Birmingham Al, and Brady Burkhalter of Fayette Al; his great-grandchildren, Saylor Kate Patterson of Northport Al, Fletcher Patterson of Northport Al, Micah Madison of Northport Al, Nora Lavender Burkhalter of Northport Al, and Bryant Burkhalter of Northport Al, sisters, Betty Burnett of Petal Ms. and Marie Elliott (Joe) of Fayette Al, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, William Theron Patterson; his mother, Gracie Ophelia Couch; and his brother-in-law, Ross Burnett.

Charles will be remembered for his warm heart and the pride he took in his family and friends. His memory will live on the stories he shared, the love he passed down and the many lives he touched along the way.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Patterson, Trey Burkhalter, Brock Burkhalter, Brady Burkhalter, Clay Madison, and Dale Bozeman. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Taylor, Harry Mozier, Joe Brown, Miles Crowley, Merrell Nolen, Micky McAlpin, Joe Elliot, Wesley Parker, and the breakfast group at Charles Cafeteria and Belk Kountry Kitchen.
