Debbie Lyle Bailey

Deborah Lyle Bailey, age 65, of Fayette passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at UAB Hospital.  Services will be Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Stamps and Rev. Wil Corbett officiating. Burial will follow at Housh Chapel-Camp Comfort Community Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eva Nell Mobley Lyle; and her grandparents, Curtis and Mary Lessie May Mobley and Samuel Felton and Mary Helen Johnston Lyle. Survivors include her husband, Steve Alan Bailey, stepson, Steven Garrett Bailey; sister Mary Jane Morgan (Huck); brother, Harold Shane Lyle; and a special cousin, Jack Stell. Debbie was a graduate of Marion County High School in 1972. She later graduated from Livingston University. She taught school in Guin, at Southern Academy in Greensboro, and at Phillips Elementary in Bear Creek. In December 1998 she married Steve Bailey and they have been residents of Fayette since that date. She loved her church family at Unity Baptist Church, and she loved children.  After her retirement she continued her teaching career by tutoring children. Pallbearers will Ferrell Robertson, Ty Owens, Billy Joe Owens, Wayne Daley, David Adkins, and Hunter Sexton. Honorary pallbearers are Lance Sexton, Mason McGough, Mark Bliven, Ronald Gregory, Joe Beasley, Paul Bailey, Tim Wayne Smith, Tim Hamm, and Ricky Sexton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
