Dempsey Russell, age 60 of Millport, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at home. Services will be Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home with Mark Dean and James Gardner officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Miracles of Faith Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tharon G. Russell and Mary I. Russell; grandparents, Leonard Russell and Hassie Russell and J.T. Crouch and Wernie Crouch. Dempsey is survived by his wife, Donna Russell; sister, Robin Slayton (Wayne); brother, James L. Russell. Pallbearers are Michael Wilkinson, Jacob Wilkinson, Ronnie Sansing, Bo Beams, Wayne Slayton and Michael Stokes. Dempsey was born on July 27, 1957 at the clinic in Millport, AL. Dr. John Mize delivered him with his grandmother, Hassie Russell, assisting. He was raised up with his sister, Robin Slayton and brother, James Russell. Demp drove a truck for over twenty years. He and Donna were married for seventeen years and fifteen years later they remarried and was married or six years. He had many, many special friends including Ronnie and Ann Sansing and Sandra Wright, that he loved dearly. But most of all, he loved God. He loved sitting around reading his bible and going to church. Demp was a loving man that loved kids. He had several children that hung around the house. And he is in his heavenly home waiting on his loved ones. We love you Demp. Honorary pallbearers are the Hospice of West Alabama.
