Donald Gene Keating, age 76, of Knoxville, passed away, Saturday, January 20, 2018, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. John Alexander and Bro. Levy Corey officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.He was preceded in death by his father, L. D. Keating and mother, Merle Keating McDaniel.Survivors include his wife, Ann Keating of Knoxville; sons, David Keating (Terri) and James Wilson (Melissa); brother, Jerome Keating (Ann); and grandchildren, James Keating (Brandy), Amanda Keating, Logan Wilson, Cadence Wilson, Jack Keating and Ava Grace Keating.Don was born May 11, 1941 in Lamar County. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a licensed mortician and worked for Memory Chapel Funeral Home. He worked in the funeral home for many years. He owned his own trucking business and worked in law enforcement for many years. He was a salesman and never met a stranger. He loved all of his dogs and considered them his babies and best companions.Pallbearers will be James Keating, Jack Keating, Logan Wilson, Paul Phillips, Leslie Burroughs and John Clayton.Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Scott Fulgham, 2 South Oncology nursing staff and friends and neighbors of the Fosters/Ralph community.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church or New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
