Donald Lee McClure, age 84, of Fayette passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017. Don's celebration of life and memorial service will be held at Fayette First Assembly of God, Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darryl Ballew officiating. Mr. McClure is preceded in death by his father, Fred McClure; mother and stepfather, Lois Pinkard and Bernard Pinkard; brother, Bobby McClure; son, Mike McClure; nephew, Robert McClure; and great niece, Julia Burdell. Donald is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann McClure of Fayette; daughter, Jill Byars (Richie) of Fayette; son, Donald Mark McClure (Bobby Jo) of St. Peters, MO; sister, Dot Sims (Lamar) of Valley, AL; grandchildren, Daryenne, Cheyenne, Julyenne and John Branyon McClure and Will and Rilee Byars; two great grandchildren, Christenne and Harrisen; one brother-in-law, Earl McClure (Alison); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Donald Lee McClure went to his heavenly home Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was a long-time resident of Fayette and a beloved husband, Daddy and Papa. Don was born on August 9, 1933 in Lanett, AL. He graduated from Lanett High School in 1951. He served four years in the Navy and four years in the Reserve. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1960 with a degree in accounting. Don, and his wife, Ann were married on November 20, 1965 and raised their children in Fayette. They were active members of Fayette First Assembly of God Church where Don was made a lifetime deacon. He loved God, his church and church family. He enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and spoiling his grandchildren. His love for coffee was like no other. At 3:00 p.m. he always had a standing date with Judge Judy. He will be remembered by his amazing hugs, contagious smile, laughter, and his unselfish love and dedication to his family.
