Doris J. Harris

Doris J. Harris, age 73 of Berry AL, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at her residence. Service will be Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, at 12:00 p.m. She will lie in state Friday, December 20, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service time on Satruday. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Taylor will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Doris was born August 12, 1951, in Berry, AL to the late James and Florencie Taylor. She departed this life on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Berry, AL.

She graduated from Berry High School in 1968. She also attended Bevill State Community College. She was a member of Ervin and McConnell Chapter #323 Order of Eastern Star and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She worked for several industrial manufacturing companies. She was also a Substitute School Teacher.

Doris was a very loving and caring person that never met a stranger and loved to give everyone hugs. She loved God and always put Him first. Even though she never had any children, she loved every child as her own, especially her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents James “Demp” Taylor and Florencie Wilson Taylor; Abner Taylor (brother), James “Skitter” Taylor (brother), Verlon Taylor Witherspoon (sister), Andrew Witherspoon (brother-in-law), Coyal “C.T.” Taylor (brother), Verdell Taylor (sister), Mary L. Witherspoon (niece), and Latonya K. Taylor (niece).

She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Lee Harris, her brother Willie “J.J.” Taylor, and her nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Doris was truly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
