Douglas Reynolds, age 72, passed away on December 9, 2023, in Berry, Alabama. He was born on July 12, 1951, in Tennessee. Douglas was a loving and compassionate individual who always had a knack for making people laugh. His innovative and creative nature was evident in everything he did.
Douglas had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed feeding hummingbirds, squirrels, and all things wildlife. His FAVORITE animal being an elephant. He had a particular fondness for cherry blossoms and sunflowers. Known for his generosity, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Douglas had a warm and affectionate personality, always greeting others with a hug and a kiss.
He was passionate about his beliefs and always stood up for what he believed in. Douglas was an adventurous spirit who loved staying busy and helping others in his community. He had a strong sense of duty and served in the United States Army.
Professionally, Douglas was the proud owner of Reynolds Auto Glass INC. He also served as the Volunteer Fire Chief at Boley Fire Department in Alabama. In his free time, he enjoyed putting on spectacular firework shows, gathering around bonfires for s'mores, and working on and riding motorcycles and ATV's. He had an impressive collection of flashlights, movies, knives, and guns.
Douglas is survived by his children, Kristi Spata (Michael), Sherice Vermillion (Bradlee), and Douglas Reynolds II, and his grandchildren, Kaylie Spata, Shayla Stanford, Savanna Reynolds, Deion Stanford, Dominic Spata, Amelia Reynolds, Aubrey Vermillion, and Kian Reynolds. He is also survived by his sisters, Nan Bishop (Jim), Violet Evans, and Sheila Reynolds, and his brothers, Ronnie Reynolds, Roger Jones (Susie), and Jimmy Jones (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harry and LaVelle Morris, paternal grandparents, M.E. and Nannie Reynolds, mother, Opal Jones, stepfather, Herman Jones, father, R.D. Reynolds, and siblings Richard Reynolds, Wayne Reynolds, Sandy Jones, Allen Jones, Hope Reynolds, and Sandra Reynolds.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 17th, 2023.
1-3 pm at the Berry Civic Center located at 59 School Ave, Berry, AL 35546.
