Ivan was born in the Deep South in Natchez, MS. In his childhood years he had the opportunity to travel and live in other states but always came back to the south where he was at Home. When he was a young boy he assisted in the building of his family’s church, Jesurun Assembly of God in Quitman, MS. As a young man he helped with his family’s logging business where he enjoyed operating heavy logging equipment. During his downtime he found himself strumming on his guitar and throughout his life, he became a self-accomplished guitarist. He also enjoyed playing the keyboard and the harmonica. At family gatherings, he was always a part of the entertainment lineup, which we all looked forward to. Throughout his life, he was a quiet and introspective individual with bohemian undertones. He loved and enjoyed his family and his small circle of friends. He shared many of his dreams about his passions for camping, outdoor living, and carpentry. Though his image of life was somewhat skewed at times he in his own words sought to “live for his God.” He very much wanted to be at peace and to live a life that is as described in the lyrics of his favorite song “Rocky Mountain High.”
