James Hood, age 72, of Fayette passed away at Northport Medical Center on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Services will be Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel with Bro. Jeff Wright officiating. Visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2019 at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Burial will be Monday, November 11, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. at Alabama National Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ervin Hood and Louise Hood; brothers, Melvin Hood and Charles Hood; and granddaughter, Lara Abigail Hood. Mr. Hood is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hood of Fayette, AL; daughter, Synthia Hood of Double Springs, AL; sons, Kenneth Hood of Yulee, FL and Rodney Hood of Lynn, AL; sister, Linda Mann of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Doug Hood of Franklin, KY; grandchildren, Brandon Hood of Yulee, FL, Corey Tittle and Mallorie Tittle both of Lynn, AL; and great granddaughter, Riley Ann Tittle of Lynn, AL. Being a Vietnam veteran himself, he was an advocate for veterans. Mr. Hood proudly served in the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) in Vietnam. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, and brother. He was always laughing and trying to take care of others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Association.
