James Thermon “Jim” Thacker, age 87 of Berry, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Fayette Medical Center. Services for Mr. Thacker will be Friday, October 6, 2023, at Berry Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Bro. Rodney Ward and Bro. Tim Fields will be officiating the service.
Mr. Thacker is preceded in death by his parents; Sam and Martie Thacker, son; Joel Thacker, brother; Charles Thacker, and Brother-in-laws; Wayne Bircheat, R.D. Swindle, and Earl Pinion.
He is survived by his wife; Syble Pinion Thacker of Berry AL, daughter-in-law; Mary Thacker Plunk (Kevin) of Adamsville TN, son; Phillip “Squirrel” Thacker (Carolyn) of Oakman AL, sisters; Carol Cook (Terry) of Tuscaloosa Al, and Lorene Bircheat of Northport AL, sisters-in-law; Gaynell Thacker of Berry AL, and Sue Swindle of Fayette AL, brother; David Thacker (Bonnie) of Northport AL, grandchildren; Beau Earnest of Berry AL, and Jesse Thacker (Kelcey) of Adamsville TN, great-grandchildren; Ella Grace, Huston Thacker, Logan Earnest, Lucas Earnest, and Lexa Earnest, and an abundance of family and friends.
James Thermon Thacker was born to Sam and Martie Thacker on August 09, 1936. He was a kind and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to his wife Syble for 67 wonderful years. He loved his family and serving the lord. He was a deacon at Berry Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Thacker served in the Army stateside during the Korean War. He worked at Arvin in Fayette for 31 years. After he retired, he enjoyed camping, working in the yard, lending a helping hand to anyone in need, and a good game of dominoes. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
The pallbearers will be Jesse Thacker, Scott Thacker, Terry Cook, David Shepard, Mitchell Bircheat, and Steve Swindle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Berry Baptist Church Members.
