James Oren Vaughn

James Oren Vaughn, age 71 of Berry, passed away on May 2, 2023, at his residence. Services for Mr. Vaughn will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Salem Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Randy Anderson and Rev. Adam Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held the evening before, Thursday, May 4, 2023, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Norwood Wyatt Chapel.

Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Clark, and Rachel Vaughn.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Franklin (Landon); son, Jimmy Vaughn (Dana); sister, Elizabeth Jacobs (Larry); brother, Ronnie Vaughn; and grandchildren, Ethan James Vaughn, Anna Vaughn, Abby Vaughn, Madi Vaughn; Ethan Gade Franklin, Sam Franklin, and Zeb Franklin.

James Oren Vaughn, better known as “Pop”, was born on January 13, 1952. He worked for Alabama Gas for 37 years of his life. He was an active member of Woodhaven Nazarene church for many years. He enjoyed so many things, such as deer hunting, coaching church league softball, working in his garden, and working on his tractor. He was engaged to Karen Kimbrel, who loved and helped care for him.

The pallbearers will be Ethan Vaughn, Ethan Franklin, Sam Franklin, Zeb Franklin, Hunter Vaughn, Austin Vaughn, Will Jacobs, and Nathan Jacobs.

The Honorary pallbearers will be Hospice of West Alabama, His caregiver, Renee Stone with Hospice of West AL., and the members of Red Bud Hunting Club.
