Joseph D. Poole, age 92 of Tuscaloosa, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Heritage Healthcare. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11a.m. at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev Jim Smith officiating and Norwood-Wyatt Chapel of Fayette directing. Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his sister, Phobe Lou Griffin; brothers, William T. Poole, John A. Poole, Charles Poole; and his parents, William H. Poole and Ola Mae Poole. Mr. Poole is survived by his daughters, Patsy Poole Walker (Glenn), Robin Poole Brown (Mack); sons Joe Michael Poole, Jeffrey Allen Poole (Sharon); 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and his former spouse Morrell Jones Poole. Pallbearers are Allen Marlowe, G.R. Marlowe, Todd Poole, Tyler Poole, Mason Poole and R.L. Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Chavis and Emmett Taylor. Mr. Poole was born December 24, 1928 in Jefferson County and moved to Tuscaloosa at an early age where he was a lifetime resident. He served as a Corporal in the United States Airforce from1946 to 1949 as a mechanic in the motor pool. He was employed by Gulf States Paper Corporation, was a Berry Mine member of District 20 United Mine Workers of America and he retired from Peco Foods where he worked in maintenance. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and listening to gospel and country music. He will be greatly missed and although our hearts are sad and broken, we will smile because he is at peace in a better home with our Lord. The family extends special appreciation to all the staff at Heritage Healthcare and West Alabama Hospice.
