Lora Faye Dodson, age 91 of Fayette, formerly of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021. Services will be Monday, March 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Perry and Essie Berryhill Dodson, and sister, Elreta “Boots” Dodson of Fayette. Ms. Dodson is survived by her twin sister, Flora Maye Dodson Helton, nieces, Janice Helton Moore (Paul) of Inman, SC and Carol Helton of Birmingham, nephew, Steven Helton of Houston, TX, great nieces, Rachel Moore Burnett (Ryan) of Inman, SC and Cara Moore of Inman, SC. Lora Faye Dodson was born and grew up in Fayette along with her sisters, Flora Maye and “Boots”. She attended school at Fayette County High School. After graduating, she moved to Birmingham and worked with A&P and later AmSouth Mortgage (now Regions). After retirement, Lora Faye later returned to Fayette and lived in the Mt. Vernon Community. She was an active participant in the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, bargain hunting, and watching birds. Pallbearers are Steve Helton, Paul Moore, Rachel Moore Burnett, Ryan Burnett, and Cara Moore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Fund.
