Maurice Fleming of Fayette passed away Monday, November 26, 2018. Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Celebration Worship Center in Vernon with Rev. Raymond Coats, Rev. James Godsey, and Rev. James Dumas officiating. Burial will follow at Fayette Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the worship center. Maurice Lamont Fleming was born in Chicago, IL on August 30, 1963 to Wynell Lacey and Paul Lawrence Fleming. In 1970 the family moved to Vernon, AL and this is where Maurice would attend school, graduating in 1981. He also served in the National Guard for about seven years. Maurice loved the Lord dearly and became a member of Temple Star Missionary Baptist Church and would later join Unity Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by Seamless in Fayette until he moved to New Orleans where he began his career as a painter. While there he was a member of Nineveh Baptist Church. Preceding him in death are: Dorothy Bass, Doris Warren, Darius Nalls, James (Joe) Nalls, Lee V. Nalls and Danny Lee Nalls. In 1981 he married the love of his life, Manetta Matrice Nalls. They have two sons: Raymond Lawrence (Patrice) Fleming and Maurice Lamont (Chanda) Fleming, Jr.; two adorable granddaughters: Raelyn Nicole and Mauri Leilani; siblings: Paul Lawrence Fleming, Jr., Rita (Malcolm) McLean, Darlene (Raymond) Riggins, Sarah (Lorenzo) Woods, Catherine Harton and Doyle Nalls; brothers-in-law: Ronald (Cynthia) Nalls, Victor (Brenda) Nalls and sister-in-law, Julie (Napoleon) Palmer; four aunts, five uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.Pallbearers are Corbin Palmer, Corey Conell, Darrin Nalls, Ernest Fleming, Jr., Vic Poe, Juan Conell, Daylon Stowe, and Kendall Johnson.
