Michael DeAllen Sheppard was born May 7, 1966, to Nancy Sheppard and Louis Wilson. He grew up in Baltimore, MD and later moved to Fayette, AL with a special neighbor, Jeanette Pruitt. He passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, surrounded by family at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Michael graduated from Fayette County High School in 1987. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended boot camp at Parris Island, SC.
After returning home from boot camp, he married his high school sweetheart Tabitha Nalls. He would later be deployed to Saudi Arabia/Iraq in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. When he returned home, he separated from the USMC and moved back to Fayette, Alabama, where he would father his three sons: Domonique, Malik, and Jaden. He was employed at Dal-Tile Manufacturing and joined the Alabama Army National Guard. He would deploy again with the 877th Engineer Battalion to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After returning home, he continued his employment at Dal-Tile where he would later retire after 22 years. After 28 years of service, he retired from the Alabama Army National Guard.
In his spare time, Mike loved coaching Toy Bowl football, and baseball, and won an area championship with one of his football teams. He loved clean cars, music, traveling, working in the yard, drinking coffee, and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy L. Sheppard, and his sister, Melissa E. Sheppard.
He is survived by his father, Louis Wilson (Kitty) of Baltimore, MD; sons: Domonique D. Sheppard (Kelsey) of Columbus, MS, Malik D. Sheppard (Tyquasia), and Jaden D. Sheppard, both of Fayette, AL; one sister, Jacqueline McCree of Baltimore, MD; one granddaughter, Amira Jade Sheppard, Columbus, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
